Location
Flux observation site of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plantation in western Liaoning is affiliated with Institute of Forestry, Chinese Academy of Forestry. The station locates at Heishui Town, Jianping County, Chaoyang City, Liaoning Province ( 41°58′33″N,119°25′32″E,asl 550m ). The vegetation type of the underlying surface of the flux tower is Middle temperate artificial evergreen coniferous forest.
Climatic
Continental monsoon climate.
mean annual temperature:5.76 ℃; mean annual precipitation: 440mm; mean annual evaporation: 1914mm; mean annual sunshine duration: 2922h; precipitation is uneven and droughts occur frequently.
Vegetation and soil
The area surrounding the Flux Tower is a forest of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica plantation. The canopy height is about 15m. The main vegetation on the forest floor is Cleistogenes squarrosa (Trin.) Keng
The soil type on the forest floor is grey-brown soil.
